Markel is investing heavily into the growth and governance of our delegated authority portfolio and we’re looking for an experienced Schemes / Delegated Authority professional to play a pivotal role in shaping how we manage, develop, and grow these partnerships across the UK Broker channel.

Why this role matters:
Our Schemes function is the centre of excellence for delegated authority across Markel’s UK Broker channel, covering PI, Care, Technology, Life Science, Construction, BTE Legal Expenses and emerging classes.
As Schemes Deal Manager, you’ll take ownership of the oversight, performance and strategic direction of a portfolio of delegated deals and help shape our approach to future growth. You’ll work directly with senior internal stakeholders and key broker/MGA partners, ensuring our schemes deliver strong outcomes, profitable performance, and best‑in‑class governance.
What you’ll lead:
Full oversight and performance management of delegated deals, including deep‑dive analysis, trend identification and actions to improve outcomes
Development of a structured governance and review framework for all scheme partners
Lead the distribution plan for Schemes, defining the operating rhythm with broker partners and internal teams
Act as primary relationship lead for delegated partners, driving collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement
Support onboarding of new delegated authorities, including due diligence, process readiness and commercial negotiation
Provide high-quality performance insight to Account Directors and senior leadership, supporting QBRs and strategic decision‑making
Champion excellence, representing Markel with credibility and strengthening our market position in the DA/MGA space
What you bring:
Strong background in General Insurance with deep experience in delegated authority / MGA oversight within the UK market
Proven success in securing, managing and retaining delegated authority portfolios
Ability to analyse and interpret performance data, identify trends and confidently present insights to internal and external stakeholders
Experience managing complex accounts and driving improvement plans
Strong commercial judgement, stakeholder influence and relationship management skills
A proactive, ambitious, solutions-focused mindset
Ability to represent the business with credibility and build long-term, trusted partnerships
