Job Description: Senior Reserving Analyst/Actuary
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
This role is a member of the AXIS reserving team and assists in performing and enhancing quarterly reserving process. This role has particular responsibility to support the growth of the Axis Capacity Solutions segment as well as supporting planning and reporting in the wider syndicate business.
What will you do in this role?
Portfolios Quarterly Reserving & Business Partnering
Be embedded in the quarterly reserving process for the portfolio solutions and programmes written in the Axis Capacity Solutions and Global Markets divisions.
Support the selections of initial expected loss ratios by evaluating trend and rate change experience, working closely with pricing actuaries for business planning and other adhoc tasks.
Perform actual versus expected analyses, including explanation of large movements during the quarter.
Review and present quarterly underwriting year and accident year exhibits to divisional, segmental, and group reserve management.
Participate in ad-hoc reserve and profitability studies on specific lines of business, including analysis of underwriting and claim trends, shifts in mix of business, changes in limits or retentions, and examination of loss and premium development patterns.
Assist with the analysis of new business opportunities and expansion of current business.
Business Planning
Active engagement in all aspects of the business planning process for the portfolio solutions and programmes written in the Axis Capacity Solutions and Global Markets divisions.
Provide support for Lloyd’s business planning process including loss ratio selection for the SBF.
Ad-hoc support for business planning activity on other business lines as required.
Quarterly Reporting Process
Ensuring accurate booking of IBNR in both the GAAP and Lloyd’s ledgers for portfolios and programmes business.
Responsibility for running the IBNR booking process for the Lloyd’s booking process, supporting process enhancement activities as required.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Maths, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, Risk Management, or a similar field which demonstrates an affinity and talent for quantitative analysis
Part /Qualified actuary (FIA/ACAS/Other Actuarial bodies) making progress through exams.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SQL and RESQ would be preferrable.
Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
Ability to prioritise tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Self-starter and willing to think about ways to improve areas when needed.
Strong communication and presentational skills, being able to talk through technical concepts with a non-technical audience.
