Arch is made up of 2 Lloyd’s syndicates (2012 and 1955) and a Company portfolio.
This role is responsible for the management and modelling of the Political Violence and Political Risk Non-Natural Catastrophe portfolio, including Terrorism, War, and associated perils. This includes a direct Terrorism class of business and political violence exposures included in other portfolios.
Produce monthly classes of business reports for the Terrorism class and assist with the monthly roll-ups for internal/external reporting. Underwriting requests for additional information.
Developing and enhancing the analytics for this division.
Ensuring the timely and accurate capture of data by our third-party outsourcer.
Communicate with underwriters to ensure the smooth operation of Exposure Management reporting within the business, including presenting outputs, explaining movements, and seeking sign-off for internal and external reporting metrics.
Making improvements to the data and analytics for Political Violence, communicating with stakeholders on key metrics and completeness of the portfolio, and driving forward the development of the Non-Natural Catastrophe Exposure Management framework within Arch.
Ad hoc projects such as tool and model validation and process automation
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Lead analyst for Political Violence and Political Risk reporting across key classes of business.
Responsibility for managing all aspects of these portfolios for exposure management and catastrophe analytics purposes, with internal assistance and our outsourcer.
Analysis of monthly variances and ensuring good data governance within Arch portfolios.
Preparing data for key stakeholders including Group reporting and outwards reinsurance purchasing for multiple Arch entities.
Internal and external reporting
Support during Event Response.
Completing ad hoc requests from underwriters to assist with pricing and monitoring of risk.
Ad hoc requests from the Catastrophe Managers and Head of Department
Role Requirements & Skills
Good understanding of Exposure Management and modelling
Strong understanding of Insurance gained in a relevant industry role.
Practical knowledge of insurance policies.
Experience within non-natural catastrophe classes advantageous, particularly Terrorism.
Ability to communicate complex Exposure Management concepts to a non-technical audience.
Proven organisational and workload management skills.
Strong Problem-Solving skills and keen attention to detail.
Excellent IT skills, including programming skills (eg. Excel, VBA and SQL)
Analytical/technical mindset.
Strong drive to develop Exposure Management practices and processes
Qualifications/Experience
5+ years experience in Insurance
Experience working in a similar role, in a Lloyd’s syndicate or similar.
Experience with Exposure Management approaches, including modelling and scenario calculation.
