The Role
Canopius are seeking a skilled claims adjuster to join the Specialty claims team to support the Accident and Health (A&H) and Specialist Consumer Products (SCP) underwriters with the wide range of products that they underwrite including, but not limited to, travel, personal accident, mortgage and income payment protection.
Our underwriters have extensive experience within the insurance market and write a wide range of risks. This breadth of underwriting creates a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to build a comprehensive knowledge across these lines of business.
Canopius is seeking an experienced claims professional with knowledge of handling claims in the London insurance market. This individual will be a key referral point and be responsible for developing relationships both internally. and externally with Canopius’ Delegated Claims Administrators. They will need to act as a subject matter expert for the portfolio and collaborate with the underwriting team.
The SCP & A&H claims teams sit within the wider Specialty Division (alongside Equine and Credit and Political Risk) as part of the Claims function.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the A&H and SCP portfolio.
- Ensure that adequate financial provisions are maintained and reported appropriately.
- Proactively adjust claims within their claims authority and in accordance with the Canopius claims manual; ensuring and delivering the very highest service to all our customers by effectively driving claims through to resolution.
- Nurture and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; in particular with the underwriters for these classes of business.
- Instruct and proactively work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to ensure the best outcomes whilst controlling costs and reducing claims leakage.
- Ensure delegated claims are managed in accordance with Canopius’ claims values; ensuring effective technical oversight of TPAs/Service Providers via regular contact meetings, peer reviews, technical file reviews and generally sharing of best practice.

Preferred Skills
Candidates should have experience with reviewing and assessing policy coverage for claims in the A&H and SCP class or other classes of business with complementary skillsets. Experience in the London market as a claims handler is preferred. Candidates will have key personal skills including:
