Salary and benefits: £40,500 to £63,000 plus discretionary bonus, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as an Actuarial Analyst in our Individual Annuity Pricing team.
The role
We are seeking a commercially minded individual who is eager to advance their career in a pricing role and gain hands-on experience in the rapidly growing individual annuity market. The work you do will directly influence key commercial decisions and have a tangible impact on our potential customers.
As a key member of the team, you will be involved in a wide range of actuarial and pricing activities across our Lifetime and Fixed-Term Annuity products. This includes deepening our understanding of customer behaviour and contributing to the pricing strategy to ensure we meet the Group’s financial targets and growth ambitions.
What are we looking for?
- A strong commercial mindset with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of pricing concepts in retail flow business; direct experience with individual annuities is beneficial but not essential.
- A part-qualified actuary with a solid academic background and relevant insurance experience, committed to achieving full qualification (supported by the Phoenix Group).
- Understanding of key pricing metrics and regulatory frameworks, including Solvency II and IFRS.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to adapt to varying work demands through effective planning and organization.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Excel, VBA, and Power BI.
- A proactive approach to building technical and business knowledge, with a commitment to personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pricing competitiveness analysis using market insight data, identifying opportunities to balance profitability and competitiveness.
- Lead the production of pricing MI to provide insights into product performance and market positioning.
- Implement pricing changes into production environments with accuracy and control.
- Support updates to pricing bases and assumptions.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of individual annuity product lines.
- Perform a wide range of pricing calculations, analyse propositions and business data, and make recommendations to senior team members.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing tools and processes to enhance pricing capability and efficiency.
