Job Summary
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise AI governance framework for TMNAS. Ensure AI and advanced analytics are safe, compliant, ethical, and commercially sound, enabling responsible innovation across key insurance functions. Partner with Technology, Digital, Data, Actuary, Legal, Security, Audit, and Business leaders to embed governance throughout the AI lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise AI governance framework, aligned to risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and insurance-specific use cases. Create and maintain AI policies in alignment with Tokio Marine Holdings guidance
- Establish guardrails for model risk, bias, fairness, explainability, data usage, and third-party AI
- Oversee governance across the full AI lifecycle: use case intake, model design, validation, deployment controls, monitoring, and remediation
- Ensure clear accountability between first line (Technology/Business) and second line (Risk)
- Interpret and operationalize evolving AI regulations and supervisory expectations
- Lead AI-related regulatory interactions, audits, and examinations.
- Function as a trusted advisor to Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Product, Distribution, Data Science, Engineering, Digital, Technology, and Enterprise Architecture teams
- Oversee vendor and third-party AI risk, including SaaS and embedded AI solutions, in collaboration with Technology Business Management and GRC teams
- Produce executive-level reporting on AI risk exposure, incidents, and regulatory readiness
- Provide concise updates to Risk Committees, Executive Leadership, and the Board
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; CPA, CIA, MBA and/or CISA preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record of leadership and management of teams
- Exposure to Tokio Marine systems and procedures preferred
Competencies / Knowledge
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, GenAI fundamentals, model explainability, fairness techniques, data governance, and privacy principles
- Solid grounding in property & casualty insurance operations and economics
- Proven ability to operate in a second-line risk role with strong influence
