The Role
Charles Taylor is seeking a a qualified lawyer to join its central commercial contracts team to provide legal support on a broad range of commercial contracts (both customer and supplier facing) across its Group to cover 12-month maternity leave, commencing in June 2026.
You will work as part of a key function within the Group's Assurance Framework, gaining exposure to a diverse and international portfolio of commercial contract work. The position reports to the Head of Commercial Contracts and sits within the Group Assurance function, responsible for risk identification, management and mitigation across the business.
This is a position which offers the opportunity to help operate a key element of the Group's Assurance Framework as well as gaining exposure to a wide variety (both in nature and international scope) of commercial contract work as part of a strong team in support of a global business with ambitious growth plans.
While the role can be performed remotely, candidates must be prepared to work occasionally from our London office.
Key Responsibilities
- You will review, amend, draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, both for customers of and suppliers to the Group and its various business units and provide practical advice to key stakeholders on issues arising.
- You will help set contracting standards to be followed across the Group, ensuring that the Group's contracts enable compliance with all of the Group's policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulation (including, for example, sanctions, fair trading, anti-fraud and corruption, ethical and environmental, etc.)
- You will support the maintenance of a Group-wide contracts' management process supported by appropriate technology, including ensuring that all contracts are reviewed appropriately before signing, and that all in-force contracts are readily available at short notice and are actively monitored.
- You will assist the commercial contracts team to operate efficiently within a robust control framework and will, engaging with key stakeholders across the Group, lead the embedding those processes, procedures, standards and systems across the Group.
- You will work closely with key stakeholders (including from the Group's procurement, client development, DPO and CISO functions), to effectively respond to business contractual needs, provide guidance and ensure consistent contractual practices across the Group.
- You will help with the application and further development of appropriate technology, processes, standards, templates and other tools (where appropriate) to improve the efficiency of the contracting process, drive standardisation and reduce risk.
- You will contribute to the setting, monitoring and delivery of assurance over a robust but functional control framework to further mitigate risk across the Group's commercial contracting.
- You will support the development and sharing of up-to-date know-how and promote best practice to enhance the Group's contractual position including assisting with the design, implementation and updating of contract templates, guidance materials and other know-how which support the successful implementation of the commercial contracts team's policies and processes across the Group.
- You will support the Group's understanding of, and readiness to meet, existing and potential future legal risks and devise and deliver strategies to mitigate the impact of any such risks on the Group.
- Carry out Ad Hoc duties and tasks that are allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.

Required Skills
- At least 18 months' post‑qualified experience advising on a broad range of commercial contracts from both supplier and customer perspectives.
- Experience with contracts relevant to insurance, claims services, technology, and procurement across multiple jurisdictions.
- Comfortable working with a variety of contracts including NDAs, MSAs, SoWs, contract variations, and a strong emphasis on IT‑related agreements (SaaS, licensing, consultancy, network services, software development).
- Experience working within or designing contracting frameworks for large organisations is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the insurance and/or wider financial services sector is beneficial, as is prior in‑house experience.
- Additional language skills-especially Spanish-are a plus.
